Blue Origin Prepares for NS-30 Mission, Its 10th Crewed Flight

Blue Origin is set to achieve another milestone with New Shepard’s 10th crewed flight as part of the NS-30 mission. The launch is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from its Corn Ranch site in West Texas.

A Milestone in New Shepard’s History

This mission marks the 30th flight of the New Shepard program and represents another step forward in the development of suborbital space tourism. Since its first crewed flight on July 20, 2021, the program has enabled 47 people to cross the Kármán line.

The liftoff is scheduled for 9:30 AM CST (15:30 UTC), with a live broadcast by Blue Origin and French commentary available on YouTube.

A Six-Passenger Crew Heading to Space

Blue Origin has revealed the identity of the six astronauts who will embark on this space adventure:

  • Lane Bess, who will be flying on New Shepard for the second time, becoming the fourth astronaut to repeat the experience.
  • Jesús Calleja, a Spanish mountaineer and adventurer, known for climbing the Seven Summits of the world.
  • Elaine Chia Hyde, an entrepreneur and pilot with Australian and Singaporean heritage.
  • Dr. Richard Scott, a pilot and scientist.
  • Tushar Shah, an aviation enthusiast and pilot.

A sixth crew member, whose identity is yet to be revealed.

The NS-30 Mission Patch

Blue Origin has also unveiled the official patch for the NS-30 mission, featuring symbolic elements representing the crew members and their journey into space.

The NS-30 mission patch includes several significant elements:

  • A mountain, representing Jesús Calleja and his mountaineering achievements.
  • An airplane and clouds, symbolizing the four crew members who are pilots.
  • A dove with an olive branch, illustrating the hope for peace shared by Jesús Calleja and Lane Bess.
  • The Southern Cross, honoring Elaine Hyde’s Australian and Singaporean heritage.
  • The Roman numeral II, indicating Lane Bess’ second spaceflight.
  • A winding path leading to the capsule, representing the journey to space undertaken by the crew.

With the NS-30 mission, Blue Origin continues to expand suborbital space tourism.
