Images from Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Lunar Lander

The Blue Ghost lunar lander, developed by Firefly Aerospace, was launched on January 15, 2025, alongside another Moon-bound mission (see Double Lunar Launch). Designed to deliver scientific and technological payloads to the Moon, this lander is built to gather crucial data on the lunar environment, test equipment, and pave the way for future human missions. Since arriving in lunar orbit, Blue Ghost has captured spectacular images and videos, providing a unique view of the Moon’s surface.

Firefly’s Blue Ghost Lander Captures Stunning New Images of the Moon

Firefly’s Blue Ghost lander captured impressive new images of the Moon during its third lunar orbit maneuver on February 24. This maneuver successfully inserted the spacecraft into a near-circular low lunar orbit. The video above, sped up 10 times, was recorded at approximately 100 km above the lunar surface. It showcases the far side of the Moon, along with a top-down view of Blue Ghost’s RCS thrusters (center) and its radiator panels on either side

On February 18, 2025, the lunar lander captured images of the far side of the Moon while in lunar orbit, approximately 120 km above the lunar surface.
