Starship Launch: Next Live Broadcast on 10/13/2025

Starship Launch: SpaceX’s Eleventh Starship flight test is scheduled for the October 13, 2025. The launch window will open at 6:15 p.m. CT. The live broadcast will begin about 30 minutes before liftoff and can be watched on this page as well as on X. The schedule is subject to change, so it is recommended to follow updates.

Starship’s Eleventh Flight Test : October 13, 2025

This new test follows the success of the tenth flight and will have several major objectives. The Super Heavy booster, equipped with 24 reused Raptor engines and previously flown on Flight 8, will trial a new landing ignition configuration. After an initial sequence of 13 engines, it will transition to 5 engines for the divert phase — compared to 3 in earlier tests — and then finish on its 3 central engines to perform a hover above the ocean before shutting down and dropping into the Gulf of Mexico. Unlike future versions, it will not return to the launch site for catch.

The Starship upper stage will aim to deploy eight Starlink simulators, built to the size of the next-generation satellites. These will follow a suborbital trajectory and are expected to burn up upon reentry. A relight of a Raptor engine in orbit is also planned. To test the heatshield, some tiles have been intentionally removed to expose the vehicle to extreme conditions. Finally, Starship will carry out a dynamic banking maneuver and test new subsonic guidance algorithms before attempting a braking burn and splashdown in the Indian Ocean, simulating a future controlled return to its base.

Overview of This Flight Attempt

Following the investigation into the loss of Starship during its seventh flight test, several hardware and operational modifications have been implemented to improve the reliability of the second stage. A full summary of the investigation is available here.

The upcoming flight aims to achieve objectives that were not met in the previous test, including:

  • Starship’s first payload deployment
  • Multiple reentry experiments to enable the return of the second stage to the launch site
  • Launch, return, and recovery of the Super Heavy booster

Enhancements Tested in the Previous Flight

During the previous flight, significant upgrades were tested to increase Starship’s reliability and performance. Key improvements included:

  • Reinforced forward flaps to reduce exposure to reentry heating.
  • A redesigned propulsion system, with a 25% increase in fuel capacity to enhance performance and extend mission durations.
  • A complete overhaul of onboard avionics, providing greater capability and redundancy, especially for propellant transfer and Starship’s return to the launch site.

Flight tests remain unpredictable, but they allow SpaceX to accelerate Starship’s development by testing hardware in real-world conditions. By conducting frequent tests, SpaceX can quickly adapt and improve the system to achieve its ultimate goal: a fully reusable and rapidly deployable spacecraft.
